Ten years later, the country’s first truly offshore wind farm was built at NORTH HOYLE in Liverpool Bay, 6km from the coast of North Wales.

RWE Innogy UK has started the next round of the NORTH HOYLE Offshore Wind Farm Community Fund, awarding nine local groups and charities with grants totalling over GBP 20,000.

NORTH HOYLE Offshore Wind Farm is Wales' first offshore wind farm, and the UK's first major offshore renewable power project. Situated in Liverpool Bay, it commenced operation in 2003.
